THE EARLY YEARS

Vita, born in Puglia in 1989, starts ballet at the age of four and very soon she puts dance at the center of her living. Already so young and talented and inspired by visual art, she attends the art lyceum in Matera, where she gets her diploma, and while studying her last major examination at Royal Academy of Dance, at the age of 17 she moves to Rotterdam,  where she is selected to attend the Rotterdam Dance Academy, and where  she obtained her four year Bachelor degree in Performing Dance. During the studies at the academy, she danced the repertoire of the school standing out among many students, conquering to be stagiaire in two of the most prestigious dance companies in The Netherlands: Scapino Ballet and Conny Jannsen Danst, both based in Rotterdam.

Very satisfied with her academic career, after the studies she continued training with the best teachers in Europe and alongside felt the need of starting her own artistic projects as a freelancer, digging research into new movement vocabulary and taking part in a large variety of projects in Italy and abroad.

BUILDING UP EXPERIENCE

In 2012 she started teaching dance techniques and postural/anatomical skills, finding herself very confident and motivated in the role of the teacher, a role that still keeps her very busy.

When she goes back to Apulia she fully dives into teaching and starts creating choreographies for her students, with whom she will locally partecipate to festivals and competition, awarding some prizes. During this time she is a partner of company Menhir thanks to who she has the chance to work with the master Virgilio Sieni in his “Vangelo secondo Matteo”, presented at Biennale Danza in Venice, and work on a solo performance called “[RA-Dù-RA]” that she will present for the opening of theatrical season at Saltimbanco Theatre in Santeramo.

In 2014 and in 2017 she had two big experiences that changed her way of perceiving movement: in 2014 she participated at Mo.DE.M intensive program by the Sicilian choreographer Roberto Zappalà, where she discovered how to earn beauty and expressive movements out of body fatigue. Regardless, she’s extremely grateful to Sicilian teachings even though it was one of the most tough and difficult research in her body.

A PASSION FOR TRANSMISSION

Some years later, in 2017 she received a scholarship to attend  Ga.Ga intensive program of one week in Tel Aviv, which was personally directed by Ohad Naharin and the dancers of Batcheva Dance Company. She remains so fascinated by the work that she embodies the feeling and the emotions of the training in such a personal way that they become a signature of a personal style.

From 2016 to 2019 she meets Ezio Schiavulli, artistic director of the own named dance company “EZ3” that captured by her qualities, involves her in the pedagogic project International Apulian Dance Network, a project that is meant to promote quality and sustain the dance schools on the apulian territory. She will follow him also in his choreographic research, dancing in two productions.

Powerful dancer, ambitious teacher and willing choreographer, art has always fascinated her and in the attempt of finding always new ways to express, she has the ability to create a place where she can be free and inspired: “I like to see poetry merging with my urgency to transpose reality into a non-verbal theatrical language and transform it into small works of art.”
